The style of dance was named BUTOH, and since then has been passed onto many different dancers. Rie Yasuda started learning classical ballet when she was four years old because her parents wanted her to be more physically fit.When she was twenty one years old, she met Maro Akaji, a dancer, and she was gradually drawn into the world of contemporary dance BUTOH. In 1990 she entered a dancing group called"Dai-rakudakan" lead by MaroAkaji. One day, she received an offer to perform to fill a position of an absent dancer. Since then she has made remarkable progress and before anyone knows, she was leading the female dancers in Dai-rakudakan. About 10 years ago, she started her own group called "Sasarahousara". (Sasarahousara means"in shambles" or "in mess" in Yasuda's localdialect) According to Yasuda, interesting aspect of dancing is"One does not express himself nor emphasize movement.
